Covid Precautions

We have been working under the guidance of the CDC, the Rabbinical Council of America and Dr. Sharon Nachman, Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Stonybrook University to ensure that going to the mikveh remains a safe and healthy experience during these difficult times.

In an effort to stagger the times that women will be at the mikveh, mikveh use is now by appointment only. Please call Janet at (516) 978-3464 to make an appointment.

We are also taking the following steps to ensure a safe and comfortable experience:

1. While the prep rooms are available for your use, we recommend that women prepare for the mikveh at home and come to the mikveh with wet hair, so that there's no need to shower before immersion. If you prefer, you may bring your own robes and flip flops from home.

2. Shomrot will stay six feet apart when attending to a woman at the mikveh.

3. Surfaces in preparation rooms are cleaned after each use with a disinfecting cleanser.

4. The mikveh pool is filtered for six hours daily, and the keilim mikveh is treated with bromine to sanitize the water.

5. We have impressed upon our cleaning staff the importance of their attention to extra vigilance at this time.

A woman who is under quarantine must follow the recommendations of the CDC and local government agencies. She may not break quarantine to immerse in the mikveh. Please do not come to the mikveh with any symptoms of illness, including fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and upper respiratory infection. May our exercise of social responsibility and commitment to the laws of family sanctity bring health and spiritual protection to our homes and to all of k’lal Yisrael.

If you have any questions about mikveh use and COVID-19, please contact Yoetzet Avital Weissman yoetzet@yiplainview.com, Rabbi Elie Weissman rabbi@yiplainview.com, Rabbi Moshe Vosoghi rabbimvosoghi@gmail.com, or your local halachic authority.
